The U.S.S. Constitution, Bunker Hill Monument in the distance. First cleared for sea, July 22, 1798. Engaged in war with Tripoli, 1803-1805. Under Captain Hull captures H.M.S. Guerriere on August 12, 1812. Under Captain Bainbridge captures H.M.S. Java on December 29 1812. Escaped from 5 British frigates by use of kedge anchors and small boats, July 18-19, 1812. Blockaded in Boston for 8 months in 1814.
