Two young Afghan girls watch with apprehension as coalition forces and Afghan Uniformed Police prepare to detonate an improvised explosive device near their home in the Sharana district, Paktika province, Afghanistan. The IED was phoned in by a local and located on along a frequently traveled road between two villagers. The IED itself was a victim-activated device that does not distinguish between civilian or military targets.
