Before bed-time, Mr. Bright called in, and informed me thata number of persons were anxious to have me commence anevening service. In a few moments, twenty-five or thirty menassembled in No. 7, which is the largest and most suitableroom for the purpose. A prisoner for conscienceFake, I could pray, too, for those who persecute and despite-fully use me. IVcdncsday, 22c?.—Slept much better on my board bed,last night, than I expected. Arose early, and took a wash in abrownish, filthy water, the only kind to be obtained, and whichI should certainly have rejected, with contempt, were not waterof some sort essential to my comfort in the morning. Our room is occupied by seven persons, as follows :—Capt.Jackson, Capt. Ball, Messrs. Shreve, Atwood, Pleasants, Tib-bets, and myself.
