U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Sept. 28, 2017) – Marines with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit conduct a Combat Life Savers course aboard amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6). CLS is a class designed to provide Marines skills that will allow them to better asses and react to injuries while in a high-stress environment before being treated by a higher echelon of medical care. The 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and America ARG are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners and to preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
