U.S. 7th Fleet chaplain Capt. John Shimotsu and Republic of Korea chaplain Lt. Cmdr. Kim Jun Rea lead a combined Catholic Ash Wednesday Mass for sailors and Marines stationed aboard U.S. 7th Fleet flagship USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19) as well as ROK sailors. Blue Ridge is visiting ROK during the exercise Key Resolve 2014. Key Resolve is an annual command post exercise that ensures the ROK-U.S. alliance is prepared to defend the ROK while training alliance forces to respond to any potential event on the peninsula.
