U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Austin Rowlands, 113th Air Support Operations Squadron, 181st Intelligence Wing, received an Army Commendation Medal at an award ceremony on Multi-National Base Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan, on July 20, 2012. The award was given by U.S. Army Col. Gerald Hadley, Commander, 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. The Army Commendation Medal is awarded to soldiers who distinguish themselves by an act of heroism, extraordinary, or meritorious service which has been of mutual benefit to a friendly nation and the United States.
