Summary

U.S. Airmen and U.S. Soldiers conduct an airfield assessment during Turbo Distribution 16-1 at Camp Shelby, Miss., Oct. 27, 2015. Approximately 109 U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the 621st Contingency Response Wing stationed at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., along with approximately 57 U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 689th Rapid Port Opening Element stationed at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., and six members of the Defense Logistics Agency participated as part of the Joint Task Force-Port Opening in the exercise. During TD, U.S. Transportation Command assessed the JTF-PO's ability to catch and distribute cargo during humanitarian relief operations. During the exercise, the JTF-PO established a forward distribution node for logistics flow in support of the U.S. Department of State humanitarian relief mission. DLA facilitated onward movement of the cargo beyond the forward node. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Gustavo Gonzalez)
