U.S. Army Col. Christopher Martin, commander, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Afghanistan Engineer District-North, congratulates Army Sgt. Barry W. Castro, after presenting him a Purple Heart medal Oct. 13 at the USACE Forward Operating Base Shank area office located in the Logar province of Eastern Afghanistan. Sgt. Castro was wounded in combat Sept. 4, 2011. Sgt. Castro is a force protection team member and attached to the AED-North detachment. Sgt. Castro is deployed from Lebanon, Tenn., and is a native of Nashville, Tenn.
