U.S. Army Pfc. Jakob Patch, of Syracuse, N.Y., with Route Clearance Patrol-29, Alpha Company, 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, drives his Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle through the night in the mountains of Paktika province, Oct. 9, 2012.
