U.S. Army soldiers from 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment provide security at Shele Kalay, Kandahar province, Afghanistan, Jan. 17, 2012. The purpose of the mission was for U.S. soldiers and their Afghan National Army counterparts to interact with the local population and to detain any insurgents found in the area.
