The U.S Consulate Chennai celebrated its two-year anniversary on Facebook with U.S. Consul General Jennifer U.S. Consul General Jennifer McIntyre commemorated World U.S. Consul General Jennifer McIntyre joined actor Vivek, Ministers K. P. Munusamy and T. K. M. Chinnayya, Mylapore MLA R. Rajalakshmi, and Indian Maritime Foundation Vice President and Rear Admiral (retired) K.R. Srinivasan – as well as thousands of volunteers – at the launch of the International Coastal Clean Up 2011 in Chennai on Saturday, September 3, 2011. Noting her background growing up near the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland and how the issue of clean waterways is “very near and dear” to her, CG McIntyre said she was “thrilled to be a part of this effort.” According to news reports, the event netted over 35,000 kg of coastal debris.
