U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Edward Palacios, assigned to the Marine Corps Detachment, embarked aboard High Speed Vessel Swift, checks the chamber of a Peruvian Marine's weapon, to make sure it is clear of all rounds, at Zona De Entrenamiento weapons range, as part of HSV-Southern Partnership Station 2012. The U.S. Marines will spend three weeks with the Peruvian Marines conducting subject matter expert exchanges and conducting practical exercises on areas that will include basic rifle marksmanship, patrolling in a desert environment, urban combat tactics and demolition techniques. HSV-SPS is an annual deployment of U.S. Navy ships and assets to the U.S. Southern Command's area of responsibility in the Caribbean, Central and South America.
