During his visit there, Haney had breakfast with Airmen; toured the security forces, missile maintenance and other facilities; and conducted a base-wide all call to discuss USSTRATCOM’s mission areas and priorities and Malmstrom’s vital role in deterrence and assurance. He also thanked the men and women at Malmstrom for their efforts in providing the nation with a safe, secure, effective and ready nuclear deterrent. One of nine DoD unified combatant commands, USSTRATCOM has global strategic missions, assigned through the Unified Command Plan, which include strategic deterrence; space operations; cyberspace operations; joint electronic warfare; global strike; missile defense; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; combating weapons of mass destruction; and analysis and targeting.
