While taking heavy enemy machine-gun strafing fire, LT Finn manned a.50-caliber machine gun on an exposed area of the flight line at Naval Air Station (NAS) Kaneohe Bay. LT Finn returned fire even after being painfully wounded, leaving his post for medical treatment only when ordered to do so. The hospital was crowded with injured people so I went back to load up our returning planes that had been on patrol, said Finn. After supervising the rearming of aircraft, LT Finn was taken to the hospital for treatment.
