USS Kennedy - LCDR Blaschum memorial service
Summary
At sea aboard USS John F. Kennedy Ships company and air wing personnel bid farewell to Lt. Cmdr. Christopher M. "Basher" Blaschum, during a memorial service held in the ships hangar bay in his honor. Lt. Cmdr. Blaschum died when his F-14 crashed shortly after take-off during training operations in the Mediterranean. Blaschum was a pilot assigned to Fighter Squadron One Four Three (VF-143) based at Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA. U.S. Navy photo by Photographers Mate Airman Joshua Karsten. The first aircraft carrier commissioned into the United States Navy was USS Langley (CV-1) on 20 March 1922.
