USS SOMERSET, At sea (April 13, 2017) A U.S. Marine with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), strikes his opponent during Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) training aboard USS Somerset (LPD 25), April 13. MCMAP teaches Marine combative skills, but also reinforces the Marine Corps principles and leadership traits through professional military education tie-ins throughout the course. The 11th MEU, embarked aboard the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility in support of security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
