description

Summary

Veterans groups in attendance at a June 4 Mega Muster in Muncie, Indiana, partnered with Marine Corps Individual Reserve Support Activity (MCIRSA) Marines to provide information and support to the 500-plus Individual Ready Reserve Marines who mustered at the event.
Marines assigned to Readiness Support Program 2 (RSP-2), MCIRSA, conducted a “Mega Muster” at the Horizon Convention Center in Muncie, Indiana, on June 4, 2016. Over 500 Marines in the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) mustered at the event, where RSP-2 and MCIRSA Marines provided those IRR Marines with information on their Veterans Affairs entitlements and benefits, veterans job programs, and introduced the Marines to various veteran support organizations, many of whom were in attendance at the Mega Muster. MCIRSA and RSP-2 Marines also worked to provide PDHRA and MHA screenings, as well as VA medical system registrations.
The muster also provided the IRR Marines in attendance with an overview of the responsibilities – and opportunities – available to Marines in the Individual Ready Reserve. The Marine Corps IRR is a segment of the Marine Corps Ready Reserve, which includes Selective Marine Corps Reserve (SMC) units, Individual Mobilization Augmentees (IMA), Active Reserve (AR) billets, and Inactive Duty for Training (IDT) Marines. The IRR is a strategic asset for the Marine Corps, and managed by MCIRSA, a subordinate command of Force Headquarters Group (FHG).
