Summary
Great news from OwenMacC ( /photos/91549360@N03/ ) that the historic maps section of the Ordinance Survey website is back up and running. See Here ( http://maps.osi.ie/publicviewer/#V1,591271,743300,0,10 ) ..oaktree_brian_1976 ( /photos/66151649@N02/ ) Tells us that the viaduct formed part of the Great Southern and Western Railway's route that ran from Farranfore to Valentia Harbour. The railway closed on 1st February 1960 and was officially wound up 5 months later...There has been talk recently of re-opening this railway as a single track line to Caherciveen along the north section of the Ring of Kerry due to the spectacular scenery along that route...Photographer: James P.
