Vilonia, AR, May 29, 2014 – With the assistance of an early warning alert, tornado survivors sought refuge at the Vilonia High School community safe room in Vilonia, Arkansas just before a tornado struck the community of Vilonia on April 27. FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program assisted the state of Arkansas and the Vilonia School District with the construction of a 6,500 square-ft. community safe room at the high school through a grant of over $1 million in 2011.
