Preventing Catastrophic Erosion: A BAER Team (Burned Area Emergency Rehabilitation) used biodegradable fiber netting to prevent catastrophic erosion and facilitate restoration of the areas impacted by the dozer lines. Because the soils were not severely scorched, abundant seed in the seed bank remained viable, and re-seeding was not necessary.
