Warren Thomas, a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran attends the Veterans Day Celebration at the Marine Corps Exchange, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., Nov. 7, 2019. To commemorate the end of fighting in WWI, President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation establishing Armistice Day on Nov. 11, 1919. This special day became a day to honor American veterans of all wars when President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a bill on June 1, 1954, changing the name to Veterans Day.
