'Waterfall and Monkeys' by Shibata Zeshin
Summary
Waterfall and Monkeyslabel QS:Len,"Waterfall and Monkeys"
In Japan Shibata Zeshin (1807–1891) is known as too modern, pandering to the Westernization movement, as well as an overly conservative traditionalist who did nothing to stand out among his contemporaries. Despite his dubious reputation in Japan, Zeshin became well known and widely studied in the Western art world, particularly in England and the United States.
