Weather Station Balloon - U.S. National Archives Public Domain photograph

This photograph shows a helium-filled radar observer balloon at the U.S. Air Force weather station at the Atomic Energy Commission's Nevada Proving Grounds at Indian Springs. Testing of the atmosphere was done following an atomic detonation.
