Summary
Contemporary engraving of the first Wimbledon Championships at Worple Road, London, in 1877. Note the higher net (5 ft). The clubhouse is located on the left (in a distance). Worple Road is on the left and on the right is the track of the London and Southampton Railways. The balls were kept in the "mangers" close to the players.
Deutsch: Zeitgenössischer Kupferstich der ersten Wimbledon Championships 1877 in der Worple Road, London. Das Netz war damals mit 5 Fuss an den Pfosten gut 1,5 m hoch. Im Hintergrund links ist das Clubhaus zu sehen, rechts die Bahngleise. In den "Krippen" in der Nähe der Spieler wurden die Bälle aufbewahrt.
