Smithsonian gets model of first German plane to fly Atlantic. Washington, D.C., Oct. 26. A 20" scale model of the Bremen which made the first westward non-stop flight across the North Atlantic in 1928 has been received by the Smithsonian Institution from Germany. Miss Katherine Onsgard of Arlington, Virginia, a private flyer, is pictured holding the model of the plane which was flown from Germany by Capt. Hermann Koehl, Baron Zuenther Von Huenefeld, and Col. James Fitzmaurice. They made a forced landing on Greenly Island off the coast of Newfoundland, 10-26-38
