In the afternoon of the 21st of April, 1996, in the small town of Visoko, a German Army armored vehicle is the first to cross the sixty ton maximum load capacity bridge symbolizing the opening of the Visoko Bridge. The bridge was rebuilt by German and Romanian Army Engineers during the months of March and April, 1996. Before the rebuilding of the bridge, the surrounding area had to be cleared of mines that were laid after its destruction.
