Carrying $200,000 worth of supplies, urgently needed, the American Red Cross Mission arrived in Rumania, Sept. 22, 1917. It had left Petrograd on Sept. 18, on the last stage of its journey to Jassy, capital of Rumania. The $200,000 worth of supplies were designed to meet the immediate needs of the people of Rumania. A Russian Junior's morning wash. One of the lasting results of the work of the American Red Cross mission sent to Riga under Colonel Edward Ryan, has been the increased cleanliness of the natives who had become careless through many years of neglect. Today even the smallest children take their morning dip in clean, fresh water, a good antidote for the spread of the typhus fever, once epidemic in this section of the Baltic provinces
