US Navy (USN) CHIEF PETTY Officer (CPO) Douglas Davenport escorts a retired military veteran, one of 250 people transported from Gulfport, Mississippi (MS), after it was devastated by Hurricane Katrina, to the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington D.C. CPO Davenport, along with 120 Washington D.C. area Sailors, volunteered to provide assistance as part of the US Navys contribution to the humanitarian assistance operation, led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and working in conjunction with the Department of Defense (DoD), that is delivering humanitarian and relief assistance to the Gulf Coast victims of Hurricane Katrina
