Abdulla and Meriam Farok, both immigrants from Iraq, thank U.S. Army SPC. Kary J. Duffy of the 141st Engineer Combat Battalion, North Dakota Air National Guard, upon her return from a one-year deployment to Iraq at Hector International Airport, Fargo, N.D., on Feb. 8, 2005. Abdulla Farok suffered injuries from chemical attacks in the Kurdish region of Iraq during Saddam Husein's rule over the country, as well as the loss of his father and his daughter in the same attacks.
