There is nothing "hit or miss" about the handling of account applications in the Social Security Board Records Office. To facilitate keeping a constant check on each, applications are grouped in blocks of 1,000, numbered in sequence, before they are started through the various operations necessary to set up an individual ledger account for every worker.
