Mouton, of Louisana, went into serious training for his coming hog. calling contest with Rep. Otha D. Wearin, of Iowa. Although denials were made it was believed that the conference was to be made in connection with the appointment of the new Majority Leader of the Senate, a post left vacant by the death of Senator Joe Robinson of Arkansas. "Cotton Ed" Smith, of South Carolina, a delegation of congressmen from the cotton states called on President Roosevelt today and presented their demands for enactment of a farm program before congressional adjournment.
