142nd Fighter Wing Warrior Spotlight

When Tech. Sgt. Brandon Smith joined the 116th Air Control Squadron more than 18 months ago, he brought with him years of experience as a radio technician in several units with the Washington Air National Guard. With more than 13 years of military experience, the benefits of his Guard job has helped form his civilian work as a communications technician with a large fire district where he trains, repairs and supervises radio use on a countywide basis. One of the key elements to his work has been working with other agencies and additional guard units to utilize frequencies, which enhances public safety agencies working together. Smith hopes to continue reaching out to other Oregon Guard units to discover more effective ways of using the current equipment to boost mission communication.
