Summary
New Orleans. Scene at École Économique, or the Economical School, 1810 - 1814. Graphite drawing by Baroness Hyde de Neuville, the wife of the school's benefactor, Jean-Guillaume Hyde de Neuville. The Hyde de Neuvilles were refugees in New Orleans from the revolution in St. Domingue, and set up the school for the benifit of fellow emigres in 1809.
