25 cents, costs of producing gallon of whisky, Monopoly Committee told. Washington, D.C., March 16. The Monopoly Committee was told today by James E Friel, Vice President and Treasurer of Joseph E. Seagram and Sons, Inc., that the cost of producing [a] gallon of Kentucky Bourbon Whisky was between 25 and 30 cents. In Illinois, Friel added, the cost would be five cents less because of the difference in state levies. He asserted that while prices of liquor have dropped since the early days of Repeal, the lower prices have not materially affected consumption, 3-16-39
