ABD- Rubble pile - National Parks Gallery
Summary
This pile was previously a 1930's era addition to the home. It was added by a restaurant that occupied the home for over two decades, and it housed a small bakery and a print shop for the restaurant. At the time of Theodore Roosevelt's 1901 inauguration, the addition did not exist, and there would have been open space between the carriage house and the main house. A new addition is being built to resemble the 1901 carriage house. However, it is impractical to leave the open space between the structures. However, the planned connector between the two buildings will be subtle and will be designed to clearly indicate that it is not a 1901 portion of the property.
