Summary
Baseball was an important part of soldier life, helping men to develop comaraderie, competition and unit cohesion. Fort Pulaski was the site of a two-game series between the 47th and 48th New York Volunteer Regiments, January 1863. The home team, the 48th, swept the 47th by more than 18 runs in the two games.
