Fort Pulaski demil-lune, Fort Pulaski National Monument, 2012.
Summary
The main entrance to Fort Pulaski NM is protected by an earthwork ravelin called a demil-lune. This seven foot deep wet ditch surrounds the main work, narrow musket loopholes and two demi-bastions with 24-pounder flank howitzers add to the strong defense of the fort. A drawbridge and portcullis add to the fort's defenses.
