Summary
This ornamental legume native to South America has become naturalized in Texas. Known as bird of paradise bush, desert bird of paradise or yellow bird of paradise, indigenous peoples of the Amazon rainforest had multiple medical uses for this plant, including curing fever, sores, cough or even inducing abortion.
