Brig. Gen. William J. Gothard, deputy commanding general of the 81st Regional Support Command, retired after 36 years of military service which included overseas assignments, deployments and time in Special Forces. Gothard's retirement ceremony took place May 17 at Fort Jackson, S.C. Here, he receives a spent shell casing from the noncommissioned officer in charge of the ceremonial firing battery.
