Citadel pueblo, Wupatki National Monument, 2016.
Summary
Less than 800 years ago, the new agricultural community was spreading and small scattered homes were replaced by a few large pueblos, each surrounded by many smaller pueblos and pithouses. This is when Wupatki, Wukoki, Lomaki and other masonry pueblos emerged from bedrock. Trade networks expanded and Wupatki flourised as a meeting place for different cultures. Then, around 1250 CE, the people moved on.
