Summary

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 15, 2019) – Hospitalman Juan Ramos crawls toward a mannequin to apply a tourniquet, during the hospital corpsman trauma training program at Naval Hospital Jacksonville on Feb. 15. Sixteen hospital corpsmen from across the Navy are receiving two weeks of training at NH Jacksonville (including various simulation labs and a Tactical Combat Casualty Care course), followed by five weeks at University of Florida Health Jacksonville (a Level 1 trauma center). The corpsmen, who already served one tour at a military treatment facility, are then assigned to operational units across the globe. The clinical rotations provide enhanced real-world trauma experience for Navy hospital corpsmen, who provide life-saving care to sailors and Marines in the field. Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Jacksonville (co-located with NH Jacksonville) delivers a ready medical force, in support of Department of Defense missions around the globe.
