Jersey City, N.J., Dec. 12, 2012 -- As this liquid gas tank was floated to the surface during the flooding from Hurricane Sandy, the port suffered severe damages to their critical infrastructure. Through the PA Program, FEMA provides supplemental Federal disaster grant assistance for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and the repair, replacement, or restoration of disaster-damaged, publicly owned facilities and the facilities of certain Private Non-Profit (PNP) organizations.The Port Authority is eligible for federal assistance under the FEMA Public Assistance program and is working to repair the gas systems that were destroyed from salt water displacement.
