Liberty Island, N.Y., May 6, 2013 --Statue of Liberty facilities were damaged during Hurricane Sandy with nearly 75% of the island under water. The passenger dock suffered damage during the storm surge and the auxiliary dock was completely destroyed and will have to be rebuilt.
