Summary
Name: Liz Stout
Title: Fish and Wildlife Biologist
Duty station: WVFO
Where did you go to school? WVU and Oregon St.
What did you study? Biology, minors in wildlife and GIS
How did you get interested in conservation? I grew up surrounded by the Monongahela National Forest in the heart of the Appalachians in WV with a plethora of outdoors activities at my fingertips. My neighbors worked for The Mountain Institute and were involved in conservation of the longest (Andes), tallest (Himalayas) and oldest (Appalachians) mountain in the world. My love of the outdoors was further fostered by them and proceeded to really take off after I attended kids summer camps on Spruce Knob at The Mountain Institute. Seeing rare species and landscapes first hand and falling in love with them made me want to conserve them that much more.
If you could have one incredible animal adaptation, what would it be? Cutaneous respiration! Call me crazy or perhaps blame my past as a competitive swimmer, but I just think this would be super cool.
