Robert French - Long Cars, Gorey, Co. Wexford
Summary
What a lovely photograph, it even has not one but two dogs!!...It seems that Long Cars are a type of early public transport (strike free perhaps?) Carol Maddock ( /photos/47297387@N03/ ) refers us to an advertisment in the Irish Times from 1894 which states that we are only 4 miles from sea by long cars constantly running......There are 13 Car Drivers in the 1901 census for the area, I am presuming they drive this type of car?..ONLY 2 Months and 6 Days to go............ I cant wait for the 8th July, what about you? ..Photographer: Robert French. .Collection: The Lawrence Photograph Collection ( http://catalogue.nli.ie/Collection/vtls000313414 ) . .Date: Circa 1900. .NLI Ref: L_ROY_10655 ( vtls000316990 ) . .You can also view this image, and many thousands of others, on the NLI’s catalogue at catalogue.nli.ie ( http://catalogue.nli.ie )
