Piles of scrapped shipboard fixtures and other metals wait in a recovery yard to be separated and sold. Under a program operated by the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service, Navy commands with qualifying recycling programs can receive 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of scrap or waste materials. The money can be used for morale, welfare, and recreation programs and other approved projects
