Shenandoah National Park - Homestead National Monument of America
Summary
“I chose this park for two reasons. First, I thought its natural beauty would transfer nicely to an art quilt. Second, in the 1700's my Irish ancestors traveled through this area and settled in Virginia so I have always been interested in the Shenandoah Valley area. My piece features the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, a cardinal, the state bird, and dogwood blossoms, the state flower. It was painted on fabric, machine quilted, and embellished with beads. I hope the visitors to the park enjoy it.”
