New Orleans, La., Sep. 21, 2009 -- During Hurricane Katrina, the green and red streetcars were stored in two different barns. The vintage green streetcars rode out the storm in their old Carrollton barn, which did not flood. When the ship was being built in the 1950s, Hanzel worked in purchasing for Westinghouse Electric Corporation, which built the nuclear reactor used to power the submarine.
