The MCSCD worked with the Long Hill Shade Tree Commission, the Chatham Environmental Commission and their township committees, to provide saplings at wholesale cost to those wishing to replace trees that were damaged or uprooted during Hurricane Sandy. Stirling, N.J., April 20, 2013 -- Stakes, used to support the soon-to-be-planted tree saplings, were purchased by residents of Long Hill and Chatham Townships at an additional charge.  Over eight hundred saplings were sold during the event, which, after planting, will help to restore the forest ecosystem in part of the area impacted by Hurricane Sandy last October.  The Morris County Conservation District, Long Hill Shade Tree Commission, Chatham Environmental Commission and their Township Committees worked together to arrange this program.
