10 years cancer-free, US Navy Photogrpah

description

Summary

Retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Mary Eveld, 26th Operational Weather Squadron meteorologist technician, poses for a photo at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., Oct. 15, 2020. In 2009, Eveld noticed an abnormality with one of her breasts and sought medical attention. Her tests came back and she was officially diagnosed with breast cancer. Fortunately, the cancer was caught early enough. After a surgery, six rounds of chemotherapy, and then radiation, she had officially beat breast cancer. Today, she has been cancer-free for 10 years. “Breast cancer awareness is an opportunity to educate others to be aware of changes in their bodies – if it looks strange get it checked out,” Eveld said. “It’s not hard. Take a few minutes, it could save your life!” (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Tessa B. Corrick)
